Emerald Academy Announces Partnership with Ionogen

PARTNERSHIP WILL ENHANCE SAFETY OF SCHOLARS AND FACULTY

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Emerald Charter Schools has announced an innovative partnership with Ionogen, local makers of Ionopure cleaners, sanitizers, and disinfectants.

Ionopure is a non-toxic, environmentally sustainable line of cleaning products that are eco-friendly while also still providing unparalleled germ-killing abilities. Each classroom at the school is equipped with an air purification system, hand-sanitizer, and surface cleaner. Additionally, custodial staff is utilizing Ionopure cleaners, sanitizers, disinfectant, and cleaning equipment throughout the school.

“In the past, consumers have been forced to choose between either a non-toxic ‘green’ product or a product that actually works and cleans effectively but contains harmful chemicals,” said John Shanahan, President & CEO of Ionogen. “Our line of Ionopure products eliminate that decision and provides both. We’re delighted that Emerald Academy is on the forefront of this technology.”

“Safety is always one of our chief concerns for scholars and faculty, but especially this school year,” said Emerald Charter Schools President Steve Diggs. “Our partnership with Ionogen along with the previously announced partnership with Cherokee Health are two big ways we are working to ensure that in-person learning can happen safely and effectively.”

The school is deploying a hybrid model for learning this year, providing parents the option to choose in-person or distance learning for their scholars. Applications to attend the school are available throughout the year, and any Knox County resident with a rising kindergarten through eighth grade student is eligible to apply to this tuition-free, college preparatory school. A very small number of applications are still available for the upper school for the current school year.

“One of the things that makes a charter school unique is our ability to quickly and nimbly adapt to meet a prevalent need.” said Emerald Academy School Director Lauren Moore. “I’m excited that through our relationship with Ionogen, we’re able to offer our scholars and faculty a clean, safe environment that will ensure the learning process continues.”
